About the role

The Finance Manager will thrive in a growing business environment, working collaboratively within a team to manage a wide range of financial tasks for our expanding nursery group.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident navigating multiple software systems, highly organized, and detail-oriented. Accuracy is essential, as is the ability to present financial information clearly to colleagues at all levels. A positive, people-focused approach is key—this role requires someone who communicates well and works effectively with others.

What You'll Do

  • Calculating and presenting fees for current and prospective customers of our nurseries.
  • Speaking to and explaining fees and government funding to parents.
  • Communicating across teams (with Operations, Marketing, HR and Admin) to ensure seamless provision of services to our nursery customers.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing process efficiently.
  • Manage monthly payroll (50+ payroll) in an accurate manner.
  • Ensure Xero is reconciled accurately on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts including cash flow.
  • Assist in supporting outsourced finance admin team with their task list.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems and controls to support business expansion.
  • Support funding applications and grant processes where relevant.
  • Perform other finance-related finance tasks as required by Management.

What We're Looking For

  • A qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or significant experience in a similar finance role.
  • Strong experience in financial management, ideally within a multi-site or service-based business.
  • Knowledge of nursery funding models and early years sector finances (desirable but not essential).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Xero is a plus).
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently
